Gate Barriers systems consists a fixed pole to a metal block that is generally
installed onto the left or right sides of the entry and provides authenticated
access. Gate Barriers are used to control the citizen access, vehicle access
and also the machinery access in some cases during the entry, exit stages. The technical application of these can be
commonly referred to boom barriers. Boom barriers can be seen at Parking
places, commercial spaces, Malls, Apartment Groups, Hospitals, Resorts,
Industries, and checkpoints like railway crossings. Boom barriers are divided
into three types Automatic, Semiautomatic, Manual. Automatic boom barriers are
those which will get activated upon the approach of the vehicle or a person in
its range, they open or remain close after the cross check of the particular
authentication. Semi Automate Gate barriers are those which are electronically
operated by remains of a motor but the control will be in the hands of a human.
Manual Gate barriers are hardly seen these days since, the barriers have to be
lifted and closed by the humans controlling the access.

Digital password encryption

Gate barriers need a digital password/key to be typed in the keypad attached to
them to make them allow you, however this is weak measure of security as the
key can be forwarded to any number of persons and the authentication can’t be
judgmental.
Card Encryption
The visitors
or the vehicles who are requesting for the access needs to provide the card
that is registered with their name and other permanent details which are cross
checked in the database, and allowed entry once the results are favorable and
proved to be true. Sometimes for added security purposes manual verification is
also done by the gate operators.
Automatic timers
Timer
s are those which keep the boom barriers closed and opened for certain period
of time and this kind of authentication is only done where there is no human
interaction instead the machines and this setup is often used in industries and
factories production line.
Remote operated
This type of authentication is purposefully built for inside
operation, when the person or vehicle enters the area, they can be seen through
the cameras fixed there , and if the owner of the premises wants to allow them,
he will operate the gate barriers with Remote from his residence/office room.
Emergency Cases
Generally Fire engines and other security vehicles have to
bypass these boom barriers at the time of an emergency, and hence these systems
are equipped with batteries that can operate the barriers upon power
interruption or failure
